LCHH's 2019 Builds starts March 2

2018 NCG Build - Onabanjo FamilyOur 31st build will begin March 2, 2019. We will be working with Habitat for Humanity of North Central Georgia. The house is located at 105 Evans Trail in Woodstock. The homeowners are Will Perry and his two teenage daughters, Gabriel and Sofee'Ah. Will grew up in Gary, Indiana. After serving in the U.S Army and then the Army Reserve, he relocated to Atlanta where he worked for MARTA and then as a school bus driver until he grew legally blind from glaucoma. He has recently completed course studies at his church and loves to share his testimony of how God has restored him for His purposes. Their new home will be much more affordable and permanent. He and his family are thrilled and grateful for this blessing from God. See Photos of the build & dedication.

The short link for this is https://goo.gl/maps/J5pc1sXKV5R2 or click on the map below.

Participants should download the INFO PACKET which contains instructions for online registration/sign-up (including online adult/child waivers), work instructions, directions to the site, directions to the parking location, and bio of the 2018 family.

Release forms

There are no longer paper waiver forms for adults as it is all done online. There is a waiver box to check when you register online to work on a build project and to sign up for a particular date. This is done in two parts. First, a volunteer profile must be created if you don't already have one from a previous build with North Central Georgia. Then after signing in with your volunteer profile (you'll need your email, first name and password), you can register for a work date. This link will allow you to do both: http://cerv.is/m?0251rlutherancoalition. This link and detailed instructions are in the INFO PACKET download mentioned above.

General Build Information

DRESS: Wear work boots or sturdy gym shoes; jeans or work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a hat and wear sunscreen. Loose fitting clothing should be avoided because they can catch on ladders or tools.

WHAT DO YOU BRING?: Bring work gloves, hammer, measuring tape, pencil, tool belt and nail apron if you have them. Put your name on anything you want to be sure to get back. Some tools will be available there, but if you have your own, it saves you from the possibility of there not being enough to go around. Breakfast will be provided for all participants starting at 7:30 am. Lunch will be provided at noon. Water will be available throughout the day at the site.

BE SAFETY CONSCIOUS!! If you ever have safety questions concerning a task assigned to you, please talk to the house leader or a crew leader. Look before you hammer! Being accidentally hit or hitting someone else with a hammer can be avoided if we are aware of those around us. Only lift loads that you feel comfortable with and use your legs instead of your back. With so many volunteers on site, there are always enough hands to help out. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. If you have waited until you are actually thirsty, it is too late! Be aware of your body’s response to high humidity and heat. Do not overwork yourself and rest as needed.

CANCELLATIONS: If you need to cancel or change dates, there are instrutions for doing so in the online signup instructions above. If the weather is so bad that you don’t want to work, don’t go. Otherwise, if it is unpleasant but tolerable, work will be going on.
