2012 LCHH Build Begins Jan. 28

With Fanancial Support from Thrivent Builds

The LCHH 2012 build at 322 Village Chase, Woodstock, Ga, 30188 begins Saturday, January 28. Thirteen Lutheran Churches will join together to construct the single family home. Special appreciation goes to Thrivent Builds for providing a major portion of the funding for this build, in addition to funding provided by the Lutheran Coalition. Please plan to participate and check the build schedule to find out when volunteers from each church will be building.

Build Schedule

The Build Schedule shows which Lutheran churches are responsible for providing volunteers for either a morning or afternoon build time, or providing breakfast, lunch or water on specific Saturdays. The schedule also shows the planned building activity for each build day.

Release forms

The following release forms are required. Please print and sign the needed forms and bring to the build site.

Updated Liability Waiver: All volunteers must provide a signed Waiver of Liability to participate in a Habitat for Humanity build..
Updated Minor Release Waiver: Parent or legal guardian must provide a signed Minor Waiver of Liability for any child, at least 16 years of age, before the child can participate in a Habitat for Humanity build.

General Build Information

DRESS: Wear work boots or sturdy gym shoes; jeans or work clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Bring a hat and wear sunscreen. Loose fitting clothing should be avoided because they can catch on ladders or tools.

WHAT DO YOU BRING?: You must complete and bring with you the Release and Waiver of Liability (see above). Bring work gloves, hammer, measuring tape, pencil, tool belt and nail apron if you have them. Put your name on anything you want to be sure to get back. Some tools will be available there, but if you have your own, it saves you from the possibility of there not being enough to go around. For those working in the morning, a breakfast will be provided starting at 7:30. Lunch will be provided for both morning and afternoon crews starting at 11:30. Water will be available during the day at the site.

BE SAFETY CONSCIOUS!! If you ever have safety questions concerning a task assigned to you, please talk to the house leader or a crew leader. Look before you hammer! Being accidentally hit or hitting someone else with a hammer can be avoided if we are aware of those around us. Only lift loads that you feel comfortable with and use your legs instead of your back. With so many volunteers on site, there are always enough hands to help out. Drink plenty of fluids throughout the day. If you have waited until you are actually thirsty, it is too late! Be aware of your body’s response to high humidity and heat. Do not overwork yourself and rest as needed.

CANCELLATIONS: If the weather is so bad that you don’t want to work, don’t go. Otherwise, if it is unpleasant but tolerable, work will be going on.
